VISIONS ACADEMY SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF & VISIONS CENTER FOR THE DEAF (HAWASSA, ETHIOPIA)
Please join us in sponsoring a student at our Visions Center for the Deaf or brand new Visions Academy - School for the Deaf, both of which are located in Hawassa, Ethiopia.
The Visions Academy School for the Deaf is the first and only deaf school in the country’s 5th largest city! Starting with Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2, we already have 50+ students attending who are now receiving a free education in formal Ethiopian Sign Language with the support they need to succeed! In order to sustain these operations, as well as to support the 45+ students who regularly attend our Visions Center for the Deaf and access a whole host of services there, we need sponsors for each of our students. If you prefer to donate by cheque, simply make your cheque payable to “Visions Global Empowerment Ethiopia”. Cash and cheque donations can be dropped off in-person at our office at the Visions Ethiopia - Center for the Deaf in Hawassa, Sidama.
4. IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS
There are a few options for making in-kind contributions. If you live locally or are planning to visit Ethiopia, we are happy to accept your in-kind contributions at any time. We are always in need of the following items:
Books (Amharic, Sidama, or English)
Learning materials, games, educational toys, etc. (from Preschool - Grade 5 mostly)
Sports equipment, outdoor play materials, etc.
Art & craft supplies
Teaching manipulatives, materials, etc.
Hearing aids (new or refurbished in good condition), hearing aid batteries, and other audiological supplies

5. VOLUNTEER WITH US!
We are always looking for volunteers to come work with us, either in-person or virtually. We rely on the support of outside professionals in particular to both help our staff to learn and grow, as well as to work directly with our target populations. We are always looking for support from the following types of professionals:
Educators / education experts
Interpreters
Speech-language pathologists
Audiologists / physicians
Filmmakers / photographers
Development experts
Business & nonprofit professionals
Marketing specialists
Tech specialists
But any and all volunteers are welcome regardless of background, ability, profession/vocation, language, etc.! Simply email us at hi@visionsethiopia.org to express interest, and we will follow up.
Additionally, our friends at Visions USA organize an annual service trip that typically runs for 2 weeks in August.
